Proof that the Labour Government no longer knows right from wrong

The Government has criticised mooted Conservative plans to put England on an equal footing with the rest of the UK by allowing only MPs from English constituencies to vote on those issues that only affect England. Senior Labour politicians Ruth Kelly and Harriet Harman have argued that equality for England puts the Union at risk, an argument of monumental hypocrisy given that it was this Labour administration that pioneered devolved government to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Cynically the Labour administration is skipping over the reality that it requires the votes of Scottish MPs to push through English only legislation. It seems that inequality is the price that the people of England must suffer due to a Government that really does not have any respect for democracy.
